House of Commons Debate 2011

On the 4th November 2011, Members of Youth Parliament  from all parts of the UK travelled to Westminister to debate and vote on issues that matters to young people.

The motion that had received the most votes after the debate session was to 'Make public transport cheaper, better and accessible for all', meaning that this will become UKYP's national campaign over the course of 2011-2012.

The topics debated were:

1) 'Make public transport cheaper, better and accessible for all.'
2) 'No to tuition fees, yes to graduate tax.'
3) 'Zero tolerance towards bullying in schools.'
4) 'End child poverty.'
5) 'A Greener future for Britain.'

Bucks Youth Cabinet

Youth Parliament elections only take place once every two years, but if you would like to get involved in your local communities and represent young people, you can join the Bucks Youth Cabinet! The Youth Cabinet is a group of 11-18 year olds that regularly takes part in consultations, run projects and works with the UK Youth Parliament. We have fortnightly meetings on Thursdays in Aylesbury, transport can be arranged/reimbursed, oh and...we get free food too! If you want to join the Youth Cabinet or would like more info, feel free to email me.

 The 'P' Word Politics Pack
The 'P' Word is a resource pack that I created that enables anyone to facilitate and deliver politics sessions to young people. The pack covers four themes, each with their own interactive activities. The themes include:
1) The Theory of Politics
2) Branches of Government
3) Party Politics
4) Political Participation
If you would like a copy of the pack, please email me.
